Why Consumers Prefer Hemp Flowers Over Extracts

04.09.2020

About 78% of those surveyed stated that they prefer to consume products including hemp leaves and inflorescences, rather than plant extracts or concentrates. Many respondents noted that refusal from concentrates is primarily associated with undesirable effects associated with the consumption of this particular group of products, namely, signs of mild paranoia and forgetfulness, hangover effects, etc. In general, the list of questions during the survey of respondents concerned both cognitive functions and forms of psychological experiences, as well as the physiological effect of drugs. As a result, giving preference to the consumption of green mass of hemp, people gained both in price and in the benefits of their effect on the body.

Recent data from the analysis of the consumption of cannabinoid products show that almost eight out of ten consumers prefer products that contain hemp leaves and inflorescences, rather than extracts and concentrates, despite the popularity of the latter among a wide range of potential buyers. The change in preferences in the consumer market causes experts not so much surprise as restrained optimism.

The authors of the analysis say that the results of preliminary studies show a clear superiority of the positive effect on the human body of products containing leaves and inflorescences, and not concentrates, the effect of which is sometimes very difficult to predict. Unlike extracts, the effect of products that include the leaves and inflorescences of the plant is quite mild and rational for the body, since the human endocannabinoid system itself recognizes the cannabinoid compounds necessary for itself and assimilates them as efficiently as possible. At the same time, the researchers insist that experiments in this direction should be expanded and continued, having established clear evidence of the positive effect on the human body of the so-called "ensemble" of therapeutically active elements of the hemp plant, along with drug-free cannabinoid compounds.

Arizona State University's latest study of the effects of cannabinoids on humans involved monitoring the response of 574 people from all regions of the United States. The habits and regularity of consumption of the "green mass" of the hemp plant and concentrates were taken into account. In total, about 78% of those surveyed stated that they prefer to consume products that include hemp leaves and inflorescences, rather than plant extracts or concentrates.

Scientists have hypothesized that the decrease in human body functions after consuming concentrates containing tetrahydrocannabinol is associated with the effect of intoxication of the body, which is practically absent when taking hemp leaves and inflorescences of therapeutic orientation. It is not surprising that people tend to use products that are more comfortable for themselves, choosing safe and acceptable forms of taking products containing natural therapeutically active elements of the "green mass" of hemp. Today, there are a number of alternatives in the product line related to the content of therapeutically active elements of the hemp plant, which attracts an increasing number of potential consumers who are looking for a solution to their problems and needs.
