Short hemp EU Market Analysis (Part 2 - fiber)

Funded by the European Commission and the Member States of the European Union's research led to the development of modern techniques that allow to use hemp fibers in non-traditional areas of use of the time.
 
Hemp fibers have some of the best mechanical properties in comparison with all the other natural fibers. They are mainly used for the production of insulation and biocomposite materials, as well as in the automotive industry.
 
In the 90s of the last century, to a full-fledged branch of resuscitation hemp, hemp fiber is mostly (> 95%) was used in the pulp and paper industry. Due to the high price of hemp pulp (5 times higher than the cost of wood), market supply of hemp fibers were extremely limited. Hemp paper used for the production of certain types of cigarettes, specialty paper, filters and technical notes. Market hemp fiber to be used in the interests of the pulp and paper industry has been and remains a stable and sustainable.
 
In 2013 (as in 2010) processing of hemp pulp and paper production is the main market for the use of hemp fiber in Europe. These production are mainly concentrated in France and occupy about 57% of the market.
 
At the end of the last century, funded by the European Commission and the Member States of the European Union's research led to the development of modern techniques that allow to use hemp fibers in non-traditional areas of use of the time. In particular biocomposite direction (in the majority in the interests of car manufacturers), production of insulation materials, as well as various areas related to the production of technical textiles.
 
The use of hemp fiber as an insulating material is the second most important market for the use of hemp fibers in the EU and is about 26% of the market. About 14% produced in the European Union of hemp fibers used to manufacture biocomposite materials. Practically not used hemp fiber for clothing, knitted fabrics or textiles.
